Sribadam or Sreebadam  

This is a beautiful forest village ideal for the meditation center. It is also well known for the Phurpa Thordo Puja and Cham Dance at the monastery which is held generally in December each year. It is situated at an elevation of 2100 meters / 7010 feet - 82 kilometers away from Gangtok lies in the valley this small remote village of Sribadam (Sreebadam). It is basically a small, but a well maintained forest village comprising of around 300 families, with population of Bhutia, Subba and Gurung. The village overlooks Samduptse (Namchi) on the opposite hill with river Reshi flowing through the gorge below. The place is highly significant for its natural, cultural and religious aspects. The word Sribadam was actually Siribatam meaning open space or flat land in the Limboo (tribe) language. The cultural and tradition of the Sikkimese can be seen and felt at Sribadam. Phuntsok Choeling Monastery famous for its meditation center for Buddhist of the region and neighbouring countries. The monastery known for its healing capacity from various sickness which is cured by religious ritual and practices. Nyingmapa Palyul Dechen Gawelling Monastery known for its famous Phurpa Tordo Puja and Cham Dance (Mask Dance) that is performed during the month of December every year. There are three natural lakes and one artificial lake at Sribadam. Guests can also trek around the Wildlife Sanctuary at Sribadam will be a different experience. There are two waterfalls near Sri Badam. The Ramay Dham dara known for its varieties of flowers and is a place where Rishi (sadhus) perform pujas of various kinds.  

One can visit the Rishum monastery, which is around 20 minutes by car from Sri Badam. A trek route leads to the famous Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary. Guest can enjoy visiting  the hot spring at Legship and also the famous Daramdin Sai Temple. One can also visit Sapproximately 13 kilometers from Sribadam. Vhir Dara Tourist Point, well known for great views of Mount Kanchenjuga and sunrise can be visited early morning or during sunset at evening

One can even visit Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali (home at Rinchenpong). People visiting Sribadam during the month of January can visit Jortehang Maghay Mela. People interested in adventure sports can trekor go for angling. Rinchenpong monastery is also a famous sightseeing destination to visit from here.

During December one can enjoy mask dance or Cham dance at Nyingmapa Palyul Dechen Gaweiling. Mountain cycling or biking can be done in the forest areas as well as in the village areas. Old Traditional Bhutia, Subba houses can be visited. Trout fishing at the two rivers in Sribadam can keep anglers busy. There is a trout breeding center. One can aslo visit the Cardamom cultivation around the village. The forests of Sribadam are well known for birding. Sunrise over the mountains can be seen from various locations nearby.  The Old Lenchay monastery can be visited, which is a part of Pemayantse and Enchey monastery.

Sribadam is nearly 85 kilometers from Gangtok and is nearly 130 kilometers from Siliguri. Road from Siliguri takes 05 - 06 hours drive by car and is roughly 135 kilometers from Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP). The route followed is Siliguri - Jorethang - Soreng - Kaluk - Hee - Birmiok . Three off shoot route are Rinchenpong from Kaluk, Pelling after Dentam and Chayataal after Dentam. Namchi, Soreng, Pelling, Geyzing all are within short distance from Sribadam.  It is nerarly the same time from Gangtok. Sreebadam to Rinchenpong is 8 - 9 kilometers. Rinchenpong to Uttarey is roughly 40 kilometers, Kaluk to Uttarey is nearly 55 kilometers and Pelling is nearly 30 kilometers. 3 - 4  hours from Darjeeling and Kalimpong and 1 1/2  hours from Pelling – Uttarey in extreme West Sikkim is  Hidden Paradise on Earth, and also is popularly known as the Base Camp of Adventure Tourism for the Singalila Range Eco-Tourism Trekking Trail Towards Khangchendzenga and also an important Gate Way of International-Indo-Nepal Border Trade Route through  Chewabhanjyan pass.
